St Albans RFC MInis & Youth is proud to announce a new club sponsor, global engineering and infrastructure behemoth Murphys Ltd.

St Albans club, which began only five years ago has grown quickly, becoming one of the leading rugby providers for children in Hertfordshire. Murphys, who recognise a good foundation when they see it, are joining with the club initially as training-shirt-sponsors, with their contribution  helping to develop club membership and ultimately success. And as we head into winter, keep everyone warm.

With St Albans U13 playing at OVs in our successful U13 'Barbarian' joint venture, St Albans' U6 - U12 hosted visitors Datchworth RFC for our first full home match of the season. As usual Datchworth were very well supported by players and parents, so the newly formed St Albans Car Park Marshalling team were put through their paces. Everything ran smoothly and by 10.00am over 400 players, parents and coaches were parked, settled in, ready for kick-off.

As the damp start gave way to glorious sunshine, all age groups enjoyed mixed training and series of closely fought matches. All told, honours went to Datchworth, with St Albans' putting up very credible performances all across the park. U12 had the added spice of Watford RFC joining with St Albans for their own Barbarian fixture.

Sunday was also Remembrance Day. A little before 11.00am everyone gathered together in a circle of players and parents to observe a two minute silence. Well done to all the players who, even the youngest, joined in quietly and respectfully.

The 11.02am whistle sent us back to more rugby and more fun. Matches ended at 11.30am when the S Albans Cafe, already serving hot drinks and hot food all morning, switched into overdrive to hand out hotdogs to over 200 hungry players. Finally, after a morning of passionate rugby, vocal coachingand enthusiastic cheering from the crowd, the fixture wound down with a few 'medicinal beers' for sore throats.
